Tue, March 1, 2005 - 7:09 PMHow bout just leather gloves, rubber handled needle nose plyers, and don't touch car. have someone else turn it over while you hold the plug or coil wire a 1/2 inch from a ground source. -

Wed, May 4, 2005 - 10:24 PMUndo one of the ignition wires from a plug , shove a spare plug into the cable boot, lay plug on engine block where you can see it and make sure plug is touching metal. have someone turn engine over and watch for spark across plug gap. You should get a blue spark.

Let someone else hold the wire while you crank it !! :) Just kidding."
That works well if the bright sun makes it hard to see the spark, the quality of the spark can be roughly determined by the volume of swearing.

Re: Anyone know how to test for spark without getting electrocuted?
Thu, March 23, 2006 - 9:32 PMLOL, you could take the spark plug wire, use a spare plug, ans lay it on something grounded to the car( block, frame, somewhere without paint) and use a volt meter, yous should get around 8000-20000 volts in small spikes(the old analog ones work best, not the digital) but one with that high a dial can get expensive, but at least you won't get electrocuted) besides it only hurts for a second!! LOL
